WELCOME TO
RECORDING DAY
what is recording day?
Recording Day is a new addition that we are trying to incorporate as part of your full band instruction. This is an exclusive experience that will only be offered to Academy based bands. All ages & all skill levels welcome!
Learn more about Recording by watching a testimonial video from the band The Wednesday’s, who recently recorded in the studio for the first time!
How does Recording Day Work?
-
Before the Big day
Practice, practice, practice! Recording is much different than rehearsing, so you want to make sure you’re well rehearsed. However, this is supposed to be a FUN and engaging learning experience! The reason we’ve created this opportunity is for you to learn to be comfortable in a recording studio setting. Have a blast and don’t stress!
-
The Big Day: Tracking!
Here’s what to expect:
- The studio will be pre-setup for you to come right in and immediately get started.
- The band will record live similarly to your rehearsals except everyone will be wearing headphones!
- Depending on the song arrangement, there may be necessary to do overdubs where some members will re-record a part or add additional parts to the arrangement.
-
Post Big Day: Mixing & Mastering
An engineer will get to work mixing your song. Once the first version is completed, the song will be sent to your instructor for you to listen & decide if there are any revisions that need to be made as a group. Once the mix is to your band’s liking, we will mastering it and send the final version your way!
what you’ll need to know going into the big day!
-
Your Recording Day will be three hours long. (one hour more than your ususal rehearsal)
-
Yes! Your instructor will be there for two of the three hours!
-
Please reach out to Ash to discuss the cost once your band has filled out the survey. She can be reached at 732-749-2992 or ashley@lakehouserecordingstudios.com
-
All ages are welcome! We want all walks of life to enjoy this type of experience during their musical journey!
-
Once your band has tracked, we will begin the post production phase! This part won’t require you to be in the studio, but we will ask that your band, and your instructor take a moment to talk about what your want from the post production of your song.
-
Absolutely! We will allow one complimentary unattended mix revision session for each bands song. We ask that once you’ve heard the first mix of your song that your band and instructor decide on any changes you’d like to make and discuss them at length. After you discuss, compile them all into an email and send them over to the studio so the changes can be made.
-
If your band practices in Red Bank, we will accommodate your rehearsal upgrade to a different date than your rehearsal. The reason we are doing this is so your instructor can be present. This may still be the same time you normally practice, just on a different date.
